The policy process takes place within and across organizations – a seemingly simple statement, but also a reality that is often overlooked as a central factor in shaping policy decisions and outcomes. Recognizing the key role of organizations as a major part of the ecosystem that surrounds the policy process immediately shines a powerful light on the ideologies, structures, and practices that can potentially impact the quality of policy-making.

Working as a policy analyst for the past years has led me to a range of surprising realizations and learnings about myself. One of these realizations is how much I enjoy writing. I now realize that not only is writing a joyful thing to do, it’s also profoundly important in sharing one’s voice and authentic self.
